Customised Tenegui Made to Your Specifications

Tenegui are the lightweight cotton towel worn inside the men.

With time, instructive words, inspirational expressions, credo, and other messages printed into the design of the tenegui have become part of the standard culture of traditional kendo.

The cloth upon which tenegui are made is unique to Japan, and therefore until now, it has been difficult or impossible to make your own tenegui with the proper characteristics and size, without coming to Japan to do it.

Chiba Budougu, Ltd. offers the production of custom tenegui as a regular service, and will produce your tenegui exactly as we do for our domestic customers here in Japan.

All our tenugui are dyed by hand in the traditionnal Japanese way, Honzome.

If you require, we can arrange for Japanese characters to be brush-painted by a capable, experienced shodou, Japanese calligraphic painting certificate holder.

Typical patterns and options are as follow:

1. White cloth base with single color print.

2. White cloth base with two colors of print.

3. Colored cloth base with white characters.

4. Colored cloth base with white characters plus one additional color added.

5. Other patterns are possible according to your design ideas.

Packaging Options:

A. Folded with no packaging

B. Folded and inserted to a plastic bag.

C. Folded, wraped with printed traditional paper cover (noshi), inserted to a plastic bag. (The wrapping paper printed with text according to your instructions.)

Cost varies, based on design, quantity, and wrapping options you specify. Therefore, for a formal quote, we ask that you contact us with the specific details of the tenegui you desire and a jpg file of your design.
