The Hasegawa Carbon-Graphite Dobari Shinai is a composite shinai made of modern synthetic materials.

A dobari-type shinai, with a fat mid-section, the center of gravity is back toward the middle-portion and tsuka, giving the shinai a very light tip.

Three types of hilt are available:

• Round hilt
• Koban or oval hilt, bottom hand
• Koban or oval hilt, both hands

This shinai is very durable and with proper care and storage can last for years.

Due to standardized pricing of this shinai, Chiba Budougu is not able to offer discount off of the set Hasegawa prices; however, we will offer the complete shinai, including premium grade leather tsukagawa, the leather grip, internal parts, and leather bindings, a value of over JPY 10,000  or more for all models.

* Any Carbon-Graphite Shinai exhibiting separation of layers, cracks, splits, or exposed black-colored materials should be withdrawn from use immediately for safety reasons.

Shinai, bamboo or composite fencing swords, due to their very nature as striking implements, are susceptible to breakage from their first use.  Technique and the force applied by the user, the condition or area upon which strikes are made, and strikes delivered by opponents against one’s own shinai may inflict micro-damaging, or result in gross catastrophic damage rendering the shinai unusable.

Neither Chiba Budougu, Ltd., nor the manufacturers of the shinai assume any liability for damage or failure of shinai, or personal injury resulting from the use of shinai.

Shinai that suffer from any shortcoming in workmanship will be considered for replacement after return and evaluation by Chiba Budougu, Ltd..
