The Tsuki Protector is specially designed for wear underneath the do during keiko and is particularly useful for specialized practice of tsuki, the thrust, and for jodan-no-kamae and nito (two-sword style) kendoists who commonly encounter wayward thrusts to the chest, shoulders, and throat area. The protector is secured with plastic clips that allow for removal without the taking-off the do, making it possible to transition to a normal practice mode without disruption. The protector is approximately 1 centimeter thick at the chest, shoulder, and throat area, and is kept thin in the lower protected portion beneath the do for coolness.
Sizes are based on chest measurement: Measure around chest, under arms, largest measurement found.
A specialize version of the protector is made for jodan-no-kamae and nito-user’s that includes higher side-protection for wayward strikes and thrusts to the side and armpits.
For person larger than the stated sizes, custom Tsuki Protectors can be made to custom order. Please contact our customer service at chibabudogu@gmail.com
Note: Tsuki technique is in itself a potentially dangerous activity and proper execution is dependant on the ability of the person attempting the technique. Whereas the Tsuki Protector provides greatly superior protection against normal tsuki attacks, no system in exists that can guard against excessively violent or unorthodox-approach tsuki attempts. Chiba Budougu, Ltd., nor the maker of the Tsuki Protector can be held liable for injury arising from the use of this product.
The Tsuki Protector is sold individually (as one protector per product quantity) and is illustrated in photos by a model to demonstrate the manner of wear. The kendo man pictured :-) nor any of the kendo wear, other than the Tsuki Protector, are included with this product.
